Based on previous week, I had a problem with my PIR sensors because they have trimpot on the back for adjusting sensitivity and timer. I need to adjust the sensitivity of my sensor in order to get the proper result, and it's quite complicated for me to get the results. So i think need to change the sensor that have similar function likes PIR sensor.

After I did some research on the sensor, I think ultrasonic sensor have the same functions with the PIR sensor because it also can detect the motion based on signal receive by echoe from the respective object by sending the sound wave of specific frequency. This sound wave is reflected after the collision with respective object and this wave is received by the ultra-sonic receiver. 

There are four major different types of ultrasonic sensors are currently in used,
  1. Ultrasonic Proximity Sensors
  2. Ultrasonic 2 Point Proximity Switches
  3. Ultrasonic Retro-reflective Sensors
  4. Ultrasonic Through Beam Sensors
I think Ultrasonic Retro-reflective Sensors very suitable for my project because the distance between the sensor to reflector is measured by measuring the propagation time. In this sensor, the stationary object could be used as a reflector and sensing distance (SD) could be adjust by adjusting the potentiometer resistance with in ultrasonic sensor. Its working is so much simple, when any object comes with in sensing distance then its propagation time is changed and by changing this propagation time, the sensor has switched into active mod.

Advantages of Ultrasonic sensor :
  1. The ultrasonic sensor has high frequency, high sensitivity and high penetrating power therefore it can easily detect the external or deep objects.
  2. These sensors easily interface with microcontroller or any type of controller
  3. These sensors have greater accuracy then other methods for measuring the thickness and depth of parallel surface.
  4. These sensors could easily sense the nature, shape and orientation of that specific objects which is within the area of these sensors.
  5. There sensors are easy to use, not dangerous during operation for nearby objects, person, equipment or material
